Our team of experienced and certified technicians that can perform every type mechanical services your boat requires and engine repairs, including complete repowers! We do complete engine rebuilds as well as starter and alternator rebuilds in our 2,000 square foot mechanical / machine shop. Our technicians regularly attend engine and equipment manufacturer’s training schools in order to remain current on the latest technologies. We service gas and diesel engines and stern drive units with the aid of computer diagnostic equipment.

To provide fast efficient service we carry an extensive stock of marine engine parts for Mercruiser, Crusader, Yanmar, Volvo, Universal, Westerbeke engines and others plus Onan and Kohler generators.

Marine Electronics

Need Service on your marine electronics or is it time to update to more modern equipment? Larsen Marine Service has qualified electronics technicians ready to perform new installations, as well as repairs, on a wide range of marine electronic equipment.

We service or custom install all marine electronics including auto-pilots, radars, GPS units, sailing instruments of all kinds and more. We are factory authorized dealers for the extensive line of Raymarine equipment including multi-function sailboat display instruments and full color GPS chart plotters that can also display radar, live weather and other functions on the same screen.

Sailboat Rigging and Spar Services

Need rigging service or guidance for your sail boat equipment? Our professional rigging crew has more than 70 combined years of experience servicing sailboats from the smallest day sailor to America’s Cup yachts. Each year many racing yachts launch from our yard to compete in the summer regattas. We have the equipment and expertise to handle boats in excess of 70 feet in length and masts to 100 feet.

Our crew can provide you with the best and proper lines for any of your rigging requirements and will custom cut or splice the lines for you from our extensive stock of marine cordage. Need wire rigging or replacements for your life lines? We make wire stays or life line rigging to your requirements in our on-site rigging shop. Need service on your mast head instruments? We have a Man Lift capable to going to over 65 feet high for our service technicians to safely and efficiently repair on those hard to get to mast head instruments.

Custom Painting & Refinishing

Restore the appearance of your boat to look like new. Quality, high gloss finishes are produced by our skilled refinishers in our specially equipped spray paint booth. Refinishing a boat is a process that requires refinishers to have technical training and years of application experience to produce the high quality finishes our customers have come to expect. We use proven Awlgrip paint products for that long lasting mirror-like finish that has much better gloss retention than gel coat finishes.

Do you want a hi-tech racing bottom for your racing sail boat? Larsen Marine can do it as well as traditional bottom painting for power and sailboats using the best products available. We will apply the bottom finishes of your choice including multiple season bottom paint. Talk with our paint experts for advice on the best bottom paint value for your boat.

Soda Blasting

This is an environmentally safe and 'hull safe' method used to quickly strip heavy, accumulated layers of bottom paint from your hull. Unlike sand, professional soda blasting won't harm your hull. After many years of bottom paint applications, you may need to remove all the old paint from your hull. Soda blasting is the efficient first step in bottom paint removal and re-coating.

Custom Installations for Sail and Powerboats

This custom bow-thruster installation is just an example of the many custom installations we do. We are also experts in the installation of air conditioning systems, 110 volt generators, electrical systems, head systems, and much more.

Wood Working Services and Custom Work

Larsen Marine Services can perform any type of woodworking repair or upgrades on your vessel. Do you want a new teak deck, need to replace the cabin floor, or modify the interior of your boat or replace a bulkhead? These are only some of the services that we can provide to you. Fiberglass Repairs Top to Bottom

Larsen Marine has the experience you want for the proper repair of your boat. At our 16 acre chicagoland yacht yard, we have been repairing and reconditioning fiberglass boats for 50 years. Our fiberglass technicians are the best and have many years of repair experience plus formal training from our fiberglass material suppliers. They repair it all from, minor gel coat damage to large holes in a hull side or bottom to soft spongy decks and every fiberglass part in between. Our well-equipped, heated shops provide a place for efficient repair work, proper curing of resins and gel coats to provide durable long lasting finishes. Dull, oxidized gel coat surfaces can often be reconditioned to like new condition.
