The Sun Odyssey 43 offers a unique blend of modern cruising amenities in a well-mannered 43’ package.  “Fortunate Sun” takes sailing to a much higher level.  She’s a fast, complete summer home, setup for family fun in comfort and style.

She has a bright and inviting interior with varnished Burmese teak bulkheads, white overhead, and a teak laminate cabin sole.

The forward owner’s cabin with private head compartment provides the privacy and comfort of home.  The berth is queen size, port and starboard shelves and hanging lockers, port and starboard ports, large and small screened deck hatches, and port & starboard reading lights.  There is privacy door to the salon.

The salon’s starboard “U” shaped dinette with deluxe pedestal table & coffee table drops to a comfortable double berth with storage under and behind plus shelving and cabinetry outboard.  The port seating converts to a short, single berth with storage under and behind and more shelving.  The forward facing navigation station is aft of the port settee.  Good light and ventilation are provided by multiple opening ports, a screened deck hatch, and the companionway.  The salon cushions were replaced in 2015.

The L-shaped galley to starboard has storage galore.  The deep double stainless steel sinks are near center line with pressure and dock side water, and on demand hot water heater (2013).  The insulated, top and front loading ice box has been converted to12 DC, air cooled refrigeration.  There is an optional top loading, 12V DC, air cooled, freezer with locking lid.  Large walk-in pantry just aft of galley.  Storage cabinetry combined with Corian counter tops w/fiddles and compartments makes food preparation in harbor or underway simple and efficient.  The Force 10 three burner propane stove with oven is gimbaled and augmented with a Hamilton Beach microwave.  An opening port near the stove and the companion way provide good ventilation while cooking.

The head to port of the companionway incorporates a double entry as part of the aft stateroom.  It is set up with a Jabsco electric head & holding tank (overboard discharge has been rendered inoperable), pressure water, stainless steel sink & Corian counter top, mirror, shower partition with independent shower sump pump, cabinet, dome lights, cabin and deck opening ports.

The spacious aft cabin includes entry thru the head and shower compartment and plenty of storage for life on board.  There is large double berth with side storage and dressing seats.  There is additional storage space in a large hanging locker.  Hull and cockpit well ports, deck hatch plus overhead lights make it all feel light and airy.
